Pain Management:
- Take prescribed pain medications as directed.
- Ice the area to help with swelling and discomfort.
- Elevate the leg to reduce swelling.
- Gradually decrease pain medication use as tolerated.
Blood Clot Prevention:
- Take blood clot medication as prescribed.
- Perform ankle pumps and move your legs frequently.
- Avoid prolonged sitting or lying down without moving.
- Wear compression stockings if recommended.
Dressing/Follow-Up Care:
- Leave dressing in place unless saturated.
- Attend all scheduled post-operative appointments.
- Call the office if you experience fever greater than 102, severe pain, increased swelling, or difficulty breathing.
- Contact your doctor for any concerns or unusual symptoms.
